Meet Matt Bell
Head Coach, Thrive in Cricket Academy
Matt Bell is a former New Zealand Black Cap with over 20 years of elite playing and coaching experience. After an international playing career, Matt turned his focus to coaching, working extensively across men’s and women’s cricket, including as a specialist coach with Wellington and the New Zealand White Ferns.
Known for his deep understanding of the game, technical precision, and calm, encouraging coaching style, Matt specialises in helping players not just improve their physical skills, but also enhance their tactical thinking, mental toughness, and love for the game.
Matt’s coaching philosophy is simple: develop the person as well as the player, providing an environment where cricketers can build both skill and self-belief, preparing them for performance in cricket — and life beyond the game.
